It’s a battle for the Champions League places in La Liga as high-flying Real Sociedad host Athletic Bilbao in the Basque derby, with four points separating fourth and fifth.
It has already become apparent that usual suspects Barcelona and Real Madrid, plus outsiders Atletico Madrid, will be fighting for the title.
However, after finishing fourth last season and therefore reaching the top tier of European club football, Sociedad will be keen to repeat the feat.
That won’t be easy though as Athletic Club have started the year brightly and have taken 33 points from 17 matches so far – meaning even a loss at the Anoeta Stadium won’t cost them fourth position.
Bilbao have looked shaky on the road this term though and with Antione Griezmann and Carlos Vela in good scoring form, taking any points from this tie will be tricky.
Sociedad are having to contend with several long-term injuries, with Alberto De La Bella out since the start of December due to an ankle injury, Daniel Estrada absent since September with the same problem and Esteban Granero and Diego Ifran both contending with ligament damage.
